Terms of Service

Forage is a solo project — an API operated by an individual sole proprietor doing business as "Forage." Reach the operator any time at willchilcutt@gmail.com. By creating a key or calling the API, you agree to these terms. They're written to be read, not to hide anything.
The service
Forage takes a URL or audio file you provide and returns data derived from it — markdown, structured JSON, images, PDFs, transcripts, or review data. The service is provided as-is. It's a small operation, so there's no uptime guarantee or formal support SLA, though the operator does try to keep it running and answer email.
Your key and account
- You get one free key per email, seeded with credits. Keep your key secret — it authenticates as you, and anyone with it can spend your credits.
- You're responsible for activity under your key. If you think it's been exposed, email us and we'll disable it.
- We may rate-limit, suspend, or disable a key that abuses the service, breaks these terms, or threatens its stability.
Acceptable use
Use Forage for lawful purposes and point it only at content you're allowed to access. Don't use it to:
- break into, overload, or circumvent access controls on any site or system;
- collect personal data in violation of a site's terms or applicable law;
- infringe copyright or other rights, or process content you have no right to process;
- resell the raw API as a competing general-purpose scraping service.
You are responsible for how you use the data Forage returns, including complying with the terms of the sites and sources you target.
Credits, payment, and refunds
- Credits are purchased in one-time packs. There is no subscription and nothing auto-renews.
- Failed calls are refunded automatically — if a fetch or conversion fails, you're not charged for it.
- Unused credits are refundable within 14 days of purchase. Email us and we'll refund the unused balance.
- Credits have no cash value beyond this refund window and can't be transferred between accounts.
- Prices and credit costs may change; changes apply to future purchases, not credits you already hold.
No warranty
Forage is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Extracted and transcribed data is generated by automated systems and may be incomplete or inaccurate — verify anything you rely on. To the extent allowed by law, the operator's total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for credits in the 3 months before the claim.
Changes and termination
These terms may be updated; material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above. You can stop using the service at any time. The operator may discontinue the service, with reasonable notice by email where practical, and will honor the 14-day refund window for unused credits.
